A Crime Story

I was looking for a present for my girlfriend at the mall when I saw acrime. I entered in a clothes' store to look for some t-shirts when I saw two girls running. They were smiling too. I didn't know why, but I found out what happened some time later. They were stealing clothes. I couldn't believe... they were so young...
They were two pretty girls. Both were tall and thin, they were wearinf red shirts and black trousers. One of the girls had long, straight, blond hair. Both were wearing ear-rings. They were about fifteen or sixteen years old.
I wanted to do something so, I called the security guard, and he called their parents. The two girls started to cry, and said that they were sorry, but their parents arrived at that moment and they were very very angry with them. The girls said that they would never steal again. In the end, I became the hero in this story.

Telling stories

In that morning, Matt woke up very scared because he had a had a bad dream.
He put on a blue sweatshirt and blue jeans. Matt was late to school so he ran to it. On the way he saw a dog barking at him and an old man wearing strange clothes. Matt arrived at the school and the door was closed so he climbed the tree to see if there was anyone inside. He went back home but the windows were closed and nobody opened the door.
He ran to the police station to tell what happened. He thought his bad dream became true, the aliens had arrived!
The police officer didn’t believe him, but he tried to calm him down and took him home.
Matt was really bored because no one believed him.

William woke up very late that day. He had had a strange dream - with green-red men, three-eye men - and he was a little bit confused.
His room was completely untidy and he spent some time looking after a sweatshirt and his jeans. He put on socks and shoes of different colours
When William got out of the room he stepped on the cat's tail (poor animal).
On his way to school, he saw Mr. Jones walking his dog near his house.
The gate of the school was closed and he climbed a tree to jump inside. He saw blue, green, red men and he ran until he couldn't no more. William was so scared that he went to police station.
When he arrived, the police officer called him and asked him what was wrong. He said aliens invaded the school and the police officer didn't believe him, of course
Suddenly, William saw a calendar on the wall. That day was the day of the alliens' party in town! How could he had forgotten that? William apologized the police officer and ran home to put on his costume and go to school.

Is technology isolating us from each other?

Well, kind of… I agree with this, because more and more people are getting obsessed with the internet, iphones, mp4’s, etc. Some people end up in the hospital because they keep playing online games for days without stopping, other skip school. Teens also go to school with theirs mp4’s or mobile phones, and then they listen to music or text messages in the classroom.
However, this kind of technologies have their pros too. For example with the internet you can shop online, search the web for information you need or even chat with people around the world. The mp4 can be quite fun too. You can listen to music you like, hear the radio or see video clips. Nevertheless, these new technologies can be dangerous, but if you can control yourself it can be quite fun and may help you on research work.

Interests and hobbies

My interests are music and films, because I love listening to music, it inspires me for my homework and things like that. As I like performances and I wish, some day, to be an actress, I like films. My favourite music style is Pop, because Pop music is clearer to understand than other music styles, I think. My favourite films are the films from 007, and musicals like High School Musical, but I like horror films too.

I listen to music almost minute of the day, everywhere when I want or when I can. Sometimes I listen to it alone, and other times I listen to it with my friends. Films, well, I hardly ever go to the cinema, and when I go, I go with my friend or with my mother.
In my free time, I watch TV a lot, I listen to music when TV is boring. And sometimes, when I don’t want to listen to music, I watch TV, I go shopping or I go to the park.

Andreia Silva Nº1 8ºD

What are you like?

I think I’m casual. I usually wear a top and jeans, however I sometimes wear make up.
I really like going out with my friends to a café or to the cinema, but now I can’t because I have to study. I love my best friend Verónica, because when I need her she is always there. The third thing I like is music. I just can’t live without it.
I don’t like weekends, although I like weekends when I go visiting my family. The second thing I hate is fake people. I just can’t stand them! The third thing I hate is seeing my friends and members of my family crying, because I start to cry too. On the other hand, when they smile, I do the same thing.

Past and Present

In the old cities, the buildings were small and the people were dressed up with long suits. There weren’t almost any cars, and they were different than modern ones.
In modern cities, there are skyscrapers and the people wear short and casual clothes. There are lots of cars and traffic. There is also more people in the streets. Modern cities are noisier, more polluted and more dangerous than the old ones. The old buildings have less floors and windows than modern ones. The modern buildings are very tall, sometimes skyscrapers, and have lots of windows.
The life is also better in the modern cities, people have less healthy problems than the old ones.
Old cities are similar to the countryside. The life was calmer and more relaxed.
I think modern city life is better.
Guilherme Rosas, 8º C

Do you prefer the city or the countryside?

I don’t like countryside life. I know it has pros, like the calm, beautiful landscapes, less pollution… But I prefer the city life because we have more quality of life. There are more entertainment and schools. We also have bigger shops, with more stores. The public transportation is better, and we can go to many places without making pollution. We also have more restaurants in the city. I think living in the city is better.
Guilherme Rosas, 8º C

How were cities in the past?

In the old times the things were very different from now. The buildings were fragile and small; the architecture was more worked then now; the streets were small. The people were quite different, too, because they wore weird clothes like, the men wore big hats, weird jackets and trousers and the women wore lots of dresses. The streets were full of people and life was good. In these days the buildings are very tall and not so worked, the streets have more cars than people, the people wear more casual clothes, but the quality of life is not as good as in the old days.

Carlos Militão, 8º E

The people’s life then wasn’t so pollutes, the ladies used to wear long dresses and hats and the men used to wear long coats and suits. People now are used to a casual style. The streets didn’t have many cars, that’s why there wasn’t traffic jams. Now we have skyscrapers and the stAlinhar ao centroreets are very noisy. In the old days there were smaller buildings. Now people spend a lot of time in shopping centres, discos and bars. In the old days people went to bed early, they didn’t have a night life like today. People have more accidents nowadays, unfortunately, and the streets at night are very dangerous.

Andreia Abreu, 8º E

Let's talk about Fashion. What do you like to wear?

Hello! My name is Natacha and I really like fashion. I think fashion is something new that everybody likes. I like to wear casual clothes, so I prefer the casual style. But sometimes I wear trendy clothes when I go out for dinner. Right now I’m wearing jeans, black trainers with the Pulma symbol in pink, a black jacket and a turtle neck sweater and I’m feeling comfortable with these clothes.
